How to Become a Local Coordinator

Real Stories

"Becoming an IEC was great for me when I moved from a small town to a larger community and knew no one except my family. It was a wonderful way to get acquainted with people. I was so excited the first time I went to a store and someone said 'hi'—it was a host family!"

In just three easy steps, you can share your Australia with international students from around the world. Here’s how:

Step 1. Apply

Pre-apply online or call 1800-251-877 to request an application and receive more information. Our Regional Managers can provide detailed answers to any questions you may have. They’ll also put you in touch with the International Exchange Coordinator for your area.

You’ll need to submit an application, references, and background check form. You can do so easily, by faxing, emailing or mailing them to your Regional Manager.

Step 2. Receive Confirmation

While your Regional Manager contacts your references from our national office, another International Exchange Coordinator will arrange an in-home interview during a time convenient for you. Upon your acceptance as an IEC, you will receive a call from your Regional Manager welcoming you to the EF Foundation family.

Step 3. Attend Training

Now the fun begins! You will receive the comprehensive IEC Training Manual. Soon after you’ll get information about EF Foundation’s next national IEC training. You will get to meet and share ideas with our national staff, as well as fellow IECs from across the country.

You’ll be fully prepared to run an exchange program in your community in no time. And don’t forget—EF Foundation’s support doesn’t end after training. Your Regional Manager and other Sydney staff will be there for you 365 days a year!
